Let’s start this journey together with a deep, honest question:
“If you continue living exactly the way you are now, what will your life look like in 20 years?”
Tough question. But necessary.
In this country called Nigeria, where the system sometimes fails us, it’s dangerous not to plan your life like your future depends on it—because it does.
✅ Look around you:
Some retired officers today are driving bolt just to survive 🥲
Some pensioners are still renting rooms in their late 60s.
Meanwhile, others in the same system are living quietly and comfortably—traveling, mentoring, farming, or even building schools. The difference? Planning.
📌 It’s not about how much you earn—it’s about what you’re doing with what you earn.
Like Stephen Covey said, “Begin with the end in mind.”
💡 If you don’t know where you’re going, anywhere will look like the way.
So many people spend 30 years working in the civil/public service with no real retirement goal beyond collecting a pension. And then reality hits… and it hits hard.
💬 REAL LIFE:
Chief Akin, a retired director, built a 6-flat apartment during his service years—one flat per 5 years. Now, his tenants fund his monthly lifestyle.
Mr. Taiwo, same age, same ministry, spent his years chasing contracts, never saved, never invested—he’s now borrowing to buy drugs. Same service. Different endings.
✍🏽 A FEW THINGS TO DO TODAY:
Write down where you want to be by age 60 or 65. House? Business? Passive income? Travel? Fulfillment?
Now ask: What must I start doing now to get there?
Saving? Learning? Investing? Reducing expenses? Reconnecting with purpose?
🔥 MOTIVATION FOR TODAY:
“You don’t stumble into a great future. You design it.”
– Fela Durotoye
“If you fail to plan, you’re planning to fail.”
– Benjamin Franklin
🧘🏽♀ The time to prepare for retirement is not when you are 55.
The time is now.
🙌🏽 Let’s decide to retire with grace, not regrets. Start small. Start smart. Start now.
🟢 Type “ I WILL END WELL ” if you’re with me on this 30-day journey!
