Nothing Lasts Forever

By: Okunola Michael Ayodele

Tagline: Seasons change, but your strength must remain.

Nothing Lasts Forever โ€” A Message of Hope and Resilience

In the middle of lifeโ€™s storms, when the nights seem endless and the days unbearably long, remember this simple truth: Nothing lasts forever. Not your pain. Not your loneliness. Not even your triumphs. Life moves in seasons โ€” and each season, whether of sorrow or success, comes with an expiry date.
In Nigeria and across Africa, many grapple daily with poverty, insecurity, unemployment, broken systems, and broken homes. A student waiting endlessly for ASUU to call off a strike. A widow with no child or pension to lean on. A youth brimming with dreams, yet stuck due to limited opportunities. A retiree forgotten by the society they once served. Or the single mother selling akara by the roadside, holding on so her children can go to school. The journey is hard, but the hardship is not forever.

Real-Life Inspiration:

Years ago, Mama Nkechi in Abakaliki lost everything in a flood โ€” her house, her farm, even her husband. With no one to turn to, she started over by selling roasted corn under a makeshift umbrella. Today, her twins are university graduates, and her business now feeds ten other families. Her story echoes across the continent: resilience births revival.

Loneliness: The Silent Season

Loneliness is a cruel visitor โ€” it comes quietly, especially when things fall apart. You can be in a crowd yet feel alone. But even this, shall pass. Use your alone time to rediscover you. Pray. Write. Learn. Heal. Start small. Join a support group, volunteer at your church or mosque, reconnect with old friends, or simply be kind to yourself.
As the African proverb says:
โ€œNo matter how long the night, the day is sure to come.โ€ โ€” Yoruba Proverb

Why You Must Remain in It

You are not weak for feeling tired. You are not cursed because life is hard. You are being prepared. The hardship youโ€™re facing is not a full stop โ€” itโ€™s a comma in the story God is writing with your life.
If you give up, you will never see the glory after the groaning. If you quit now, you may miss the harvest youโ€™ve cried for. Stay in it, because your pain today might be someoneโ€™s survival story tomorrow.

Quotable Quotes for Your Journey

โ€ข โ€œHard times may have held you down, but they will not last forever.โ€ โ€” Joel Osteen
โ€ข โ€œIt does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.โ€ โ€” Confucius
โ€ข โ€œEven the deepest wound heals with time. And even the longest drought ends with rain.โ€ โ€” African Wisdom
โ€ข โ€œSometimes you just need to rest, not quit. The fire will burn again.โ€ โ€” Okunola Michael Ayodele

What You Can Do Today:
โœ… Talk to someone โ€” pain shared is pain halved.
โœ… Keep a gratitude journal โ€” find at least one thing daily to be thankful for.
โœ… Focus on what is working, not whatโ€™s failing.
โœ… Serve others โ€” healing comes in helping.
โœ… Remind yourself daily: โ€œThis too shall pass.โ€

Final Words:

Seasons donโ€™t last forever, but strong people do. No matter what youโ€™re facing โ€” emotional pain, unemployment, betrayal, loneliness, poverty โ€” you are not alone, and this is not the end. Let hope be your anchor, and let the knowledge that โ€œnothing lasts foreverโ€ be your strength.
You were born to rise again.
Keep going โ€” the sun will shine on your side again.
